Renkai Ma's Award-Winning Lighting Design Celebrates Dai Nationality Culture

The Wanda Hotel at Sipsongpanna, one of the world's top mountain rainforest resort hotels, spans a land area of 700 mu and comprises three high-end holiday hotels. Renkai Ma's lighting design, inspired by the Dai nationality's culture, creates a warm, sweet, delicate, and artistic atmosphere at night, effectively showcasing the unique culture of the Dai nationality to the world.

Renkai Ma's design is distinctive for its integration of traditional Dai culture and modern techniques. Using a high-precision uspro colorimeter, Renkai Ma measured the spectral reflectance and color of the building's surface, which is covered in gold foil, to achieve the optimal mixed lighting effect. The result is a unique mountain rainforest beauty that comes alive at night.

The design process involved numerous optical simulations and darkroom tests to ensure that the lamps and lanterns met the design requirements. These tests were certified by China's national quality supervision institutions for LED. The design also underwent several optimizations and experiments to meet China's lighting industry standards. The result is a lighting design that not only creates spatial levels and environmental structures but also enhances visual impact, creating a peaceful and free atmosphere.

The design project, which started in February 2015 and was completed in August 2016, faced several challenges. One of the main challenges was improving the luminous efficiency of the second diffuse light and integrating the hidden light fixture with the building to match the project's characteristics.
